Review: Phantasma

Phantasma Phantasma by Kaylie Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The plot, the spice, and the fact that there wasn't a cliffhanger, made this book oh so enjoyable. This was a super unique story, and I am excited for book two to come out! As someone with OCD, this book really got to me. The shadow voice is REAALL. A gothic fantasy with romance, deadly competition, magic, devils, ghosts, and phantoms. A lot of people had said this book gave Caraval vibes, and maybe it's just me, but all I could think about were the Saw movies lol. Challenges based on the 9 levels of Hell, where you need to work through "problems" and if you fail, you die... I think the most interesting challenge for me was the one with the hint "Choose Wisely". I was honestly so shocked because I fear I would have failed lol. The end was pleasantly surprising. I was not expecting that to be the twist, but it fit perfectly and the back story just added the perfect amount of detail.

Having a Danny Phantom coded MMC was *chefs kiss*.
